Here is my prep help for May 2007.

Instructions to get started

First day - Prep work

Meats:

  • Cook all 12 pounds of ground beef. This can be done quickly by crumbling ground beef onto a cookie sheet and cooking at 350 till it is cooked through. Every few minutes, you should take it out and stir it with a spatula. Once it is cooked through, let cool, then separate into Ziploc bags and place in the fridge for next day.
  • Cook pork roast in crock pot - this could take several hours. Once finished, let cool and place into bags for next day.
  • Cook entire package of bacon. Let cool and store in Ziploc bags in the fridge for next day.
  • Brown all sausage in frying pan, and store in Ziploc bag in the fridge for the next day.
  • Cook pot roast and all three chickens in the oven at once. The chickens can be placed in 9 x 13 casserole pans….put about 2 cups of water in pans …2 chickens can fit in one pan. The pot roast should be in a pan of it’s own, with a couple of cups of water also. Follow directions on the bags to know how long to cook them and at what temperature. Once finished, let cool and place into large Ziploc bags and place in fridge for next day.
  • Cook stew beef on the stove. Once finished, let cool and place into large Ziploc bags and place in fridge for next day.
  • Cook pork chops on stove. Once finished, chop into pieces, let cool and place into large Ziploc bags and place in fridge for next day.

All done with the meat!

While things are cooking, you can be busy chopping the vegetables:

  • Chop up all onions. This may cause you to cry, if you’re like me. I sometimes like to try cutting them under water, by putting them in a large pan filled with water, and cutting inside the pan. It’s more difficult but results in less tears. Once finished, place into large Ziploc bags and place in fridge for next day.
  • Chop bell peppers. Place into large Ziploc bags and place in fridge for next day.
  • Chop tomatoes. Place into large Ziploc bags and place in fridge for next day.
  • Chop 4 stalks of celery. Place into large Ziploc bags and place in fridge for next day.
  • Dice potatoes. Place into large Ziploc bags and place in fridge for next day.
  • Dice carrots. Place into large Ziploc bags and place in fridge for next day.
  • Chop up mushrooms. Place into large Ziploc bags and place in fridge for next day.

All done with the veggies.

Now, you probably have had to clean several dishes while cooking, but the kitchen is still a mess. Take a deep breath. Sit down. Drink a cup of coffee or your favorite beverage, and relax for a little bit.

Now it’s time to clean the kitchen.

  • Get a large black hefty bag, and throw all cans, jars, boxes, paper, etc, into the bag.
  • Clear out both sinks, and fill left sink with hot water.
  • Get all dishes on the counter organized. Plates stacked, cups together, etc.
  • Get a towel and place it on the counter to the right of your sinks.
  • Wash all dishes.
  • Clean the counters, the table, and the chairs.
  • Sweep the floor.
  • Mop the floor.
  • Take a break! You need some rest for the big day tomorrow!!!
